Choosing inmuebles can be a daunting task. This is a life altering decision as this will be your home for the next year (a minimum of) depending on the structure of one's lease agreement.

-How many bedrooms?

Typical apartment setups are as follows: studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms and three bedrooms. A studio apartment is a large room where everything sits. Personally, I'm not a fan of studio apartments simply because they lack the privacy of rooms and I personally want to compartmentalize things inside their respective rooms. A 1 bedroom is perfect for a single 20 something year old man or woman in the beginning stages and they can usually get a reasonable rate per month for a 1 bedroom. 2 and 3 bedroom apartments appear to work well in excess of one person, typically families or friends who become roommates. More costly, but with roommates this allows you to split the rent.

-What is included in the rent?

Some apartments offer different utilities inclued within the rent. Several example utility offers may be free heat and hot water, free gas and electric, etc. Since most apartments offer this that types of inclusions have become quite commonplace, always ask or uncover what is included. The most frequent offering appears to be free heat and hot water and other utilities such as gas and electric are not included. This really is reasonable and that i would recommend this example.

-What is the parking situation?

Should you own a car and drive regularly, than the is a very important aspect. Some apartments have a parking lot where you are assigned one parking space. You will never need to be concerned with parking if this is the case in anticipation of having guests. Guests will likely then be limited to parking on the street. Other apartments might have lots, though first come first serve parking. Not really a big deal, unless there is certainly limited space, in which case this can be a problem. Usually apartment buildings have the necessary space therefore it does not become a problem. Other apartments may have street parking. It has always been an issue of mine as street parking doesn't invariably guarantee parking and also lends itself to the chance of car theft and vandalism.

-Is the apartment furnished?

Most apartments has to be furnished by the tenant, but in those rare occasions, the apartment may be furnished using a couch, bed, chairs, etc. For the way you feel about using other's stuff, a furnished apartment might or might not work for you.

-Location

Could it be near major highways? Do you have a supermarket close to you? Entertainment? It could be wise to navigate the location and see what exactly is near there, this way you have a clear idea of how quickly you can obtain necessities.

-Neighbors

This one is very hard to determine before selecting an apartment and is also usually discovered once you have already moved in. You can try to ask the owner about any noise issues, but a majority of of the time they'll say there isn't any noise even if there is. Nobody wants to live in a condo with lots of noise, so more often than not this will be a crapshoot.

Have fun with finding your new apartment. Hopefully these guidelines have given you some sort of indication as to what to expect when picking your apartment.
