What are APK files and just there a necessity apk store? APK files are meant for smartphones including android phones. They're app files, and could be used to install applications on cellular devices.

The most popular smartphones nowadays are, obviously, Android phones. Applications can be downloaded into these phones via a channel known as the Android Market. Android Market, a website owned by Google, is a marketplace that distributes smartphone apps.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, smartphone owners cannot download apps from the Market. As an example, some models are not supported by the Market, so users can't login and download directly. However this does not mean the phone is incompetent at running applications. The following is where APK files can be found in.

APK programs are actually application files. In Windows, we all have been familiar with executable (EXE) files. They function in a similar way. When you click an APK file, you're launching the installer for your application. The app can then be installed directly on the device. If you can't connect to the Android Marketplace for some reason, then your only choice is to look elsewhere.

Obviously, for security reasons, you need to only install these files from trusted sources. Before installing, make sure that your have modified your settings to allow app installations from unknown sources. So where can you find reliable app. files?

Such files can be created by making a backup of existing apps. Most free apps that are offered publicly can be backed up into an APK file. The file will then be re-distributed to become installed on other smartphones. Some developers release APK installers for the benefit of all users. These files are often released in apps-related blogs and forums. You'll find a lot of APK installers in developer forums.

How you can install APK files.

Step 1: Download the APK files in your PC or your SD card. Should you download it to your PC, transfer it for your SD card.

2: Use your file browser (e.g. ASTRO file manager) to find the APK file and then click it. The installer will run. Read the required permissions before proceeding.

Step 3: The app. should now be installed successfully on your smartphone and you will use it like every other app.

Sometimes, an application may be updated, causing the smartphone to crash. Which means that the updated app has stopped being usable. Because you can't revert to the older version (there's no option to do that), you will be made to uninstall the brand new app to check out the old version. Even though you may have access to the Android market, the existing version may no longer be around. This is the time to request or hunt for an APK file.
